Assess billing fit for your ModMed setup

Keep the specialty-specific clinical workflow you use today while you assess whether Taiga can take on billing. ModMed's EMA and Practice Management setups differ, and Taiga has not published a ModMed-specific connection. Start with a workflow review, not a promise of a ready-made integration.

EMA alone

ModMed says an EMA-only practice does not have the same appointment, balance, or charge data as one using ModMed Practice Management. Identify the separate PM or billing system before discussing a handoff.

EMA with ModMed PM

ModMed says finalizing the note can create a clinical bill in its own PM suite. The question is which team owns those charges, claims, remittances, and patient balances if Taiga takes over billing.

First, identify where your ModMed billing data lives

ModMed describes different paths for EMA-only practices and those also using ModMed Practice Management. Those paths change which information may be available to an outside billing partner. This is a due-diligence map, not a claim that Taiga already supports a ModMed connector.

Start with the finalized encounter

In EMA, the physician documents the visit and finalizes the clinical note. ModMed says its own EMA-to-PM suite can generate a clinical bill at that point. If your practice uses EMA alone, the downstream charge workflow may instead depend on another PM system.

Locate the billing handoff

Confirm whether you use ModMed Practice Management, a separate PM system, or ModMed's own RCM service. ModMed documents different data access for EMA-only and PM-equipped practices, including differences in appointments, balances, and charges.

Validate access before assuming automation

ModMed publishes API and HL7 connection options, including a finalized visit-note feed and certain charge interfaces. Availability of a vendor interface does not establish that Taiga uses it. Taiga must confirm an approved data path, permissions, identifiers, and what can be read or returned for your practice.

Then scope Taiga's managed work

If the required connection can be supported, Taiga's general service covers coding review with physician sign-off, claim submission, denial work, and patient billing. The precise split with any ModMed PM or RCM tools needs to be agreed before a cutover.

What is not confirmed

Taiga's published site does not name ModMed, claim a native EMA or ModMed PM integration, document a production connector, or specify write-back and reconciliation behavior. ModMed's published APIs and HL7 feeds are vendor capabilities, not proof of a Taiga integration. Do not assume the standard two-week onboarding window applies here.

What a workable handoff could protect

These are the outcomes to test in a demo, not ModMed-specific performance promises.

Keep specialty charting intact

Your clinicians should continue using EMA for the specialty-specific documentation they rely on. Confirm that any proposed billing process starts after the relevant note is finalized.

Avoid two owners for one claim

Map claim creation, submission, payment posting, denial follow-up, and patient balances so neither Taiga nor an existing PM or RCM team duplicates the work.

Keep clinical sign-off clear

Taiga's standard workflow includes physician review of proposed codes. Ask where that approval happens with your ModMed configuration and whether any step changes for clinicians.

The ModMed questions to settle before implementation

Unlike eClinicalWorks, ModMed is not named on Taiga's current site as a supported EHR. A standard Taiga onboarding timeline should not be applied to a ModMed practice until connection scope and the current billing arrangement are verified.

Inventory the products

List EMA, ModMed Practice Management, any other PM, clearinghouse, and current RCM service. ModMed says EMA-only practices do not have the same appointment, balance, or charge data as practices with its PM system.

Verify the data path

Have Taiga identify which clinical notes, patient and visit details, charges, and remittances it can access through your approved setup. Ask ModMed what connection and permissions your practice can authorize.

Define the cutover

Document who owns new claims and open A/R, where payments are posted, and who communicates with patients. Request a practice-specific timeline only after those answers are clear.

Best for a practice willing to validate the handoff first

This evaluation is most useful for an independent specialty practice that wants to keep EMA's clinical workflow and is considering a managed billing partner instead of operating the revenue cycle itself. If your practice is committed to ModMed's bundled RCM service or cannot make the needed data available, Taiga may not be the right fit.

Questions for a ModMed fit call

Does Taiga have a confirmed ModMed integration?

Taiga's published site does not name ModMed as a supported EHR. This page is an evaluation guide, not confirmation of a working ModMed connection. Ask Taiga to verify your specific EMA and PM setup.

Is EMA alone enough for a billing handoff?

Not automatically. ModMed's API documentation distinguishes EMA-only practices from those using ModMed Practice Management. Appointment, balance, and charge information can differ. Taiga would need to confirm the data it can access and the workflow your practice actually uses.

Can Taiga use ModMed's API or HL7 feeds?

ModMed documents API and HL7 options for third parties, including some finalized-note and charge paths. That does not establish that Taiga has a connector or that your practice has the required access. The interface method must be validated with both teams.

Would clinicians have to stop using EMA?

The evaluation assumes clinicians want to retain EMA. Whether Taiga can take over billing while preserving that workflow depends on the connection and existing PM or RCM setup. Do not plan a migration until that is demonstrated.

What happens if we already use ModMed Practice Management or RCM?

Define which system or team owns charge creation, claim submission, payments, denials, patient balances, and old A/R. Taiga's managed service should not be layered onto an existing billing process without a clear ownership and reconciliation plan.
